Running, Jogging & Walking Programs

All running programs are design by Brian Clarke to bring the best possible results in the shortest available time. Groups meet three times a week for workouts, but exceptions are made for individuals who, because of work or family commitments, can’t come to all workouts on a regular basis. Our promise: Whether you’re a runner, jogger or walker, you’ll experience great races with proven training programs, experienced coaches, and friendly group support.

5k and 10k Speed Training | December 19 - March 4, 2012

This program is designed to teach the game of competitive racing, focusing on five relatively short races (including the Great Aloha Run) that give us the opportunity to practice and enjoy the up-tempo skills of training and racing.

An 11-week program, with two locations and two weekly schedules: Downtown Honolulu, with workouts on Monday & Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7:00 a.m., and Central Oahu, with workouts on Tuesday & Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday at 7:00 a.m.

Join the training in December, get in shape with moderate workouts, and learn the BC Interval Training System before picking up the pace on in early January, 2012. Late-comers returning from the holidays are welcome to join after January 1.

Cost for the 11-week program, including three workouts per week, is a flat rate of $145 for new-comers and $120 for returnees.

Summer Jogging | March 12 - July 28, 2012

A 20-week program, with two locations and two schedules: Downtown Honolulu, with workouts on Monday & Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7:00 a.m., and Central Oahu, with workouts on Tuesday & Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday at 7:00 a.m.

Train for the Ford Island Bridge Run 10K, the Honolulu Half Marathon, and the Wahiawa Pineapple Run 10K. Enjoy post-workout meals with your buddies. Build a base of stamina in anticipation of the Honolulu Marathon Training, which begins in late July.

The 20-week program costs a flat-rate $95 for new-comers and $75 for returnees. The information meeting for this training is at 3 p.m. at Brian’s place at 4133 Sierra Drive on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Or come to the first complementary workout for an introduction and orientation to the training.

Oahu Trail Training | May 14 - Aug 11, 2012

Discover the beauty and challenge of running in the forests of the Koolau and Waianae mountains of Oahu. This training will build a great base of long runs and hills for the marathon training that begins in late July.

The program is designed to prepare athletes of all levels for a series of low-key, fun-run trail races. We begin on May 14, with workouts on Mondays & Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 a.m.. We meet in the Mount Tantalus area above Makiki on the weeknights and at various locations in the mountains around Oahu on Saturdays. We guarantee that you will see areas of Oahu you have never seen before.

Sunday Trails | October 7 - November 25, 2012

Explore the scenic East Koolau ridge trails between Mariner’s Ridge in Hawaii Kai and Mount Tatalus above Makiki. In the process, you’ll gradually build the strength to tackle the highest peaks in the Koolaus.

Workouts require a basic entry fitness level. Initially, you should be able to walk for 90-minutes on steep, rugged trails. This training is for active people who dare to enjoy the breathtaking vistas of Honolulu and the Windward side of Oahu from unbelievably exhilarating perspectives.

The program begins in mid-October and continues through November, with eight 2-to-4-hour hikes on Sunday mornings starting at 7:30 a.m. Do the program for a flat rate of $75.

Honolulu Marathon Training | July 30 - December 9, 2012

This 20-week training accommodates runners, joggers and walkers training for the Honolulu Marathon.

We meet in three locations: Downtown Honolulu, with workouts on Monday & Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 6:30 a.m.; and both Windward and Central Oahu, with workouts on Tuesday & Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday at 6:30 a.m.

Twelve different groups at each location accommodate ability levels between three and eight hours for the marathon. One of these groups will be right for you. Nobody gets left behind.

Workouts include long weekend runs, with hills and tempo runs during the week. Two practice races are scheduled during the training so you can learn the discipline of carbohydrate loading, pacing, hydration, and nutrition before attempting the Honolulu Marathon.

Come to the free information meeting on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Avenue from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.

Tuition. Newcomers pay a flat rate of $245 (installments okay) and returnees pay a flat $195. Bring in a new participant who pays the flat rate, and get $100 back. Note: Students and retirees pay $175.
