Describing himself as unemployed, uneducated and unmarried (after retiring at age forty). Mark is one of the few athletes who have completed the TRI, Trail, Speed and Marathon trainings.

Regional Marketing Coordinator at Hilton Hawaii. Fifteen years in competitive swimming, including four years at UH. Swam on the Swedish national relay team (100 freestyle). Eleven years coaching experience; third in this program. Enthusiasm and Congeniality.

Owner of Hawaii Vending Company, LLC. Jaime joined the trainings to develop a healthy lifestyle and to meet new friends.  He’s a bike coach in the tri training and a group leader in the marathon training.

Graduate assistant at UH working on a masters thesis. A self-described soils science nerd, Tai has proven herself to be leader in the marathon, trail, and speed trainings.

Recent UH graduate with a B.A. in Psychology; practicing massage therapist with private cliental. Past participant in this training; third year of coaching. Graduate of the City DOT’s Bike Akamai Program for bike coaches. Enthusiasm and Support.


Bob Russio

Group Leader—Marathon Training

Manages Information Security for HMSA. A walker leader in the marathon training for the past eight years, Bob has walked more than twenty marathons and continues to whittle his finish time into the low six-hour range. Bob has completed the Volcano Wilderness Marathon three times. He has walked marathons in Nevada, California and Hawaii.


Annie Marshall

Annie Marshall
Group Leader—Trail Training

Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Annie started training for marathons in 1997 and has been a group leader in the trail trainings since 2003. She has run six marathons, including Boston in 2000. Her PR was in the 1999 Maui Marathon where she qualified for Boston. She was second in her age group in the 1998 Volcano Marathon. Annie loves running trails
